OUR MISSION
Miracle Lives Charity, has a clear mission: to empower children and youth impacted by war, enabling them to unleash their full potential and advocate for their rights.
We are dedicated to creating an environment that ensures their safety, well-being and fosters personal growth, holistic development, and the realization of their untapped talents.
Through sports, technology, comprehensive educational support, mentorship programs, and skill-building opportunities we aim to empower these resilient young individuals to transcend the limitations imposed upon them by their circumstances and unleash their true potential.
OUR GOAL
We aspire to bridge the gaps caused by geographical boundaries, age disparities, gender biases, and financial constraints. Our objective is to dismantle the barriers that hinder the progress, providing equal access to life-changing experiences, regardless of children background or resources. We envision a future where these resilient young minds can confidently embrace their dreams, pursue their passions, and contribute positively to their communities and the world at large.
Through collaborative partnerships, advocacy efforts, and continuous innovation, we are committed to ensuring that every child and teenager impacted by war finds within our programs a reliable and empowering support system.
By fostering a sense of belonging, instilling self-belief, and nurturing their unique talents and abilities, our goal is to empower these extraordinary individuals to not only survive, but to truly thrive, despite the challenges they have faced.
OUR STORY
At 4:50 a.m. on February 24, I received a call that shattered my peaceful life. “Wake up quickly! War!” a voice shouted through the receiver. Panic and fear gripped me, and I was at a loss as to what to do. The sound of a siren pierced the air, signaling the beginning of a nightmare that felt all too real.
My children’s innocence was lost in the chaos that ensued. They no longer went to bed in their pajamas but slept fully clothed, ready to run to the basement at a moment’s notice. Their fear was so great that they didn’t even dare to cry. My youngest son’s terror was so intense that he started screaming in his sleep.
Two days of chaotic traffic jams filled with the sound of explosions and sirens led us to Lviv. We couldn’t find housing to rent because hundreds of thousands of scared Ukrainians had fled to western Ukraine. Finally, we were forced to leave our home country and move to the Netherlands to ensure our children’s safety.
Despite finding a new home and new acquaintances, we faced new challenges. Our children struggled with a language barrier, a different culture, and homesickness. They felt isolated and cut off from life, surrounded by everything unfamiliar: people, food, habits, and rules.
Our children were of different ages, and they all bore the emotional burden in their own ways. Our youngest son didn’t communicate with other children his age for over three months, which made him more dependent on us and emotionally unstable. Our teenage son and daughter couldn’t adapt to their new circumstances and struggled with loneliness and apathy.
As parents, we were grateful and blessed to see our children safe, but it was painful to see our children suffer so much. We delved deeper into the issue of children’s loneliness and found that most Ukrainian children, scattered all over the world to escape the war, were going through similar difficult times. We spoke with parents and psychologists from different countries who were involved in rehabilitating these children. We discovered that almost all children who were outside of Ukraine faced similar problems: confusion, loneliness, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, apathy, and a lack of communication with “mentally different” peers.
The conclusions were disappointing, and the problem was acute. These issues wouldn’t disappear without leaving a trace and would manifest in adulthood. “No one was prepared for war. Children are constantly on edge due to a lack of understanding of what the future holds. They experience breakdowns, tantrums, disobedience, and fights with other children. These problems need to be addressed now before they become irreversible.”
That is why we launched Miracle Lives Foundation, a Non-Profit organization to empower Ukrainian refugee children have a brighter future.
